The Ostdeutsche is an established art gallery in Regensburg (Germany), which exhibits post-modernist work by Eastern European artists. The new identity is based on a dynamic system which combines the gallery's elegant features with a contemporary visual language.
The master logo aims to encapsulate the gallery's initials while also representing the coat of arms of Regensburg. The semi-oval backdrop frames the isolated “O” and reappears as part of the visual system throughout the identity.
The posters follow a layout system designed to hierarchically distribute information, balance the use of image and text, and establish visual consistency across promotional materials. To simplify the process of creating these assets, I developed a web-based design tool using the Mechanic framework.
